BENTON, Mo. -- Cecil Rodger "Nip" Lynn, 82, of rural Benton died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 28, 1926, near Benton, to the late Clyde and Rita Agnes Rodger Lynn Sr.
He lived in Scott County his entire life where he was self-employed in farming until retiring in 1989. He was a member of New Savannah Baptist Church.
Lynn served with the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II.
He and Anna Louise "Teeny" Brown were married April 9, 1951.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry Lynn of Chaffee, Mo., Gary and Cindy Lynn of rural Benton; a brother, Donald (Kathy) Lynn of Benton; a sister, Patsy (Ottis) Morrow of Benton; four grandchildren, Tonya Renay Lynn of Pittsburgh, Nicole Lynn of Napa, Calif.; Jeremy Lynn and Jerrod Lynn of Sikeston, Mo.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, W.A. Lynn, Clyde Lynn Jr. and Lennis "Nubbin" Lynn; and a sister, Marie Hendershott.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Kenny Bollinger, pastor of New Savannah Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery near Benton.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Lynn, Jerrod Lynn, Doug Lynn, Mike Lynn, Ryan Morrow, Larry Brown and Todd Brown.
