CECELIA SMITH

Funeral for Cecelia Virginia Smith of Reseda, Calif., was held Thursday at Crawford Chapel in Northridge, Calif. The Rev. Fred Martin officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, Calif.

Smith, 79, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Tarzana Rehab Center in Tarzana, Calif.

She was born March 27, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of the Rev. B.L. and Essie Townsend Patrick. She and Ward Smith were married Oct. 17, 1939. He died April 29, 1986.

Smith had been a beautician and member of a Baptist church.

Survivors include a son, Robert Smith of Roswell, N.M.; a daughter, Brenda Medaris of Reseda; a brother, Peyton Patrick of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Dorothy Ellis of Cape Girardeau, Betty Olson of Santa Monica, Calif., Patsy Conway of Inglewood, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and two grandchildren.
