Catherine Pulliam, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at Heartland Care and Rehab, where she had been a resident for a short time.

She was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Scott City, to Walter and Flora Fox Reed. She and J.C. Pulliam were married Jan. 15, 1947, in Arkansas.

Catherine worked at Sunny Hill Poultry Co. Inc. in Cape Girardeau early in her life.

She liked cooking, canning and gardening, as well as caring for and loving her animals. Catherine was the oldest girl in the family and was considered the matriarch. She always looked after her sisters, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include two sisters, Fannie (John) Farrow of Jackson and Jewel (James) Mitchell of Mounds, Illinois; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Billy Pulliam; five brothers; and three sisters.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be given to Saint Francis Hospice.
