Catherine Jordan

Catherine Braun Jordan, 87, of Decatur, Ga., died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Sunrise Assistant Living of Decatur, Ga.

She was born March 14, 1915, at Cape Girardeau, daughter of Charles W. Braun and Anne E. Milde Braun. She and William C. Jordan were married in November of 1945 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Aug. 6, 1997.

Catherine attended St. Mary's High School and Southeast Missouri State for a year. She graduated from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing. She was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurses Corp during World War II. Later she graduated, with honors, from the University of Tennessee at the age of 65 with a bachelor's of science degree in psychology. She was a resident of Nashville, Tenn., for 38 years, until moving to Decatur, Ga., three years ago. She was a member of Ladies of Charity in Nashville, Tenn. and a member of the Ladies Council of St. Henrys. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur, Ga. and St. Henry's Catholic Church while in Nashville.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Mike Banick of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Dorothy Braun Sigmund of Cape Girardeau and two grandchildren, Robert and Christina Banick of Atlanta.

Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Gefford Lamprea will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Full military rites will be presented by the Delta Team.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers include Mark Anderson Sr., Robert Banick, Mike Banick, Charles Michael McCrate, Christopher McCrate, Joseph McCrate, M.G. McCrate and Nicholas McCrate.
