Aredah Catherine Gockel, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born May 15, 1928, in Olive Branch, Ill., daughter of Lloyd and Edna Lee Holmes Harvell. She and Joseph Edmond Gockel were married Aug. 13, 1943, in Jackson. He died Nov. 22, 1997...

Aredah Catherine Gockel, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born May 15, 1928, in Olive Branch, Ill., daughter of Lloyd and Edna Lee Holmes Harvell. She and Joseph Edmond Gockel were married Aug. 13, 1943, in Jackson. He died Nov. 22, 1997.

Gockel was a member of VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Gockel of Bay, Ark., Joe Gockel Jr. of Scott City; a daughter, Sondra Hoover of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Virgil Harvell of Bourbon, Mo., Russell Harvell of Granite City, Ill.; a sister, Luzetta Pilcic of Granite City; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lorimier Cemetery, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.
