SIKESTON -- Carson L. Pitman Sr., 91, of Sikeston died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at Festus Nursing Center in Festus.
He was born Aug. 24, 1907, in Middlebrook, Ark., son of John Cullen and Margaret Lucinda Holcomb Pitman. He and Maudie Jane Quartermous were married Nov. 10, 1927, at Doniphan. She died Nov. 16, 1982.
Pitman farmed many years, and then worked at Fischer Body in St. Louis. He was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, William Pitman of Barnhart, John Pitman of Centerville, Tenn., Robert Pitman of Taylor, Mich.; three sisters, Essie Mock of Maynard, Ark., Ethel Mason of Rockton, Ill., Verda Ewers of St. Louis; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, two brothers, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Pat Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
