DONGOLA, Ill. -- Carroll Adam Turner, 75, of Brookshire, Texas, formerly of Cypress, Ill., died Thursday, June 13, 1991 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Houston.
He was born May 9, 1916 in Johnson County, Ill., the son of John and Jennie Kinslow Turner.
On Dec. 23, 1937, he married the former Jean M. Karraker. She preceded him in death April 10, 1973.
He married Marguerite Harrison on Nov. 2, 1985. She survives.
Turner, who held a doctoral degree, was retired from the faculty at Western Illinois University at Macomb, where he spent his entire teaching career. He began teaching in 1944. He was a professor in the educational foundation and educational psychology departments.
He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Macomb, the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jim Turner, Springfield, Ill.; one brother, John Turner, Avon Park, Fla.; two sisters, Opal George, Alton, Ill. and Ora Dickemann, St. Louis; two grandchildren, Douglas and Kimberly Turner, both of Springfield, Ill.
Funeral service will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at the Crain Funeral Home in Dongola with the Rev. Larry Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Cypress Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation was held Saturday at the funeral home.
