EAST PRAIRIE -- Carrie Simpkins Roberts, 75, of rural East Prairie died Saturday, July 15, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 17, 1919, at Commerce, daughter of Fred and Nora Cummins Meyer. She and J.B. Simpkins were married May 14, 1938. He preceded her in death June 6, 1964. EAST PRAIRIE -- Carrie Simpkins Roberts, 75, of rural East Prairie died Saturday, July 15, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 17, 1919, at Commerce, daughter of Fred and Nora Cummins Meyer. She and J.B. Simpkins were married May 14, 1938. He preceded her in death June 6, 1964. On Oct. 30, 1968, she married George Roberts, who survives of the home.

Roberts lived in Mississippi County most of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Prairie and attended the First Christian Church of Charleston.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Peggy Thompson of Charleston; a stepson, Lane Roberts of St. Louis; a stepdaughter, Jane Rexinger of Atlanta, Ga.; a half brother, Wilbur Newman of White Lake, Mich.; a half sister, Irene Ross of East Prairie; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, a half brother and two half sisters.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. J.L. Laughlin will officiate, and burial will be at the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
