Carolyn Woodruff

Carolyn J. Newman Woodruff, 64, of Jackson passed away peacefully Thursday, July 5, 2012, at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born March 23, 1948, at Holcomb, Mo., to the late Bud and Earline Mabry Newman.

Carolyn was an administrative assistant at Southeast Missouri State University. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, enjoyed reading, flower gardening, shopping and had a lifelong love of food. Carolyn was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She loved life, her family and was full of sass and spice. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by a son, Kevin Woodruff (Julie) of Jackson; a daughter, Angel Woodruff of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, Gary Newman (Marie) of Jackson, Winford Newman (Helen) of Campbell, Mo., Charles Newman (Charlotte) of Ellsinore, Mo., Harold Newman of Arkansas; two grandchildren, Kennedy Woodruff and Jordan Kinder; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Diane Norris.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Sister Lucille Zerr, SSND, officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
