Carolyn Sarff, 73, of Jackson passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 21, 1939, daughter of Hiram and Mae Altom Allstun. She married John W. Sarff on June 5, 1963, and together they lovingly raised two children in Jackson.

Carolyn graduated from Dexter High School and received her nursing degree from the University of Missouri. She dedicated her life to nursing until her retirement in 2001 from the Cape Girardeau County Health Department. She was a board member of the Teen Pregnancy and Responsibility Network and a volunteer for the Missouri Department of Conservation at the Nature Center in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Dee Dee (Jamey) Dockins of Jackson; sister, Marilyn (Cecil) King of Vero Beach, Fla.; brother, W.R. (Sally) Allstun of LaMirada, Calif., and two grandchildren, Jonathan and Madalyn Dockins of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of nearly 48 years; daughter, Laura Martin; granddaughter, Callie Dockins; and a sister, Barbara Hawks.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
