Carolyn Brown

Carolyn L. Brown, 73, of Jackson died Friday at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 3, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Clarence Melvin and Clara Wylder Cook. She married Danny Ray Brown on Dec. 1, 1978, in Scott City. He survives of the home in Jackson.

Carolyn was a licensed practical nurse for Mid-Town Clinic in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Scott City and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Scott City, where she loved to play Bingo and cook for all of those who participated. Carolyn was a very loving wife, mother and friend to all.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Scott Huey of Scott City and Greg (Marcie) Brown of Jackson; a daughter, Jennifer (Matthew) Monroe of Jackson; four brothers, M.G. (Sandi) Cook, Allen (Debby) Cook, Freddie (Barbara) Cook and Eddie (Nancy) Cook; and three grandchildren, Jordan Monroe, Seth Monroe and Lanie Brown, all of Jackson.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Norman, Tommy and Bill Cook; a sister, Laura Frances Stone; and a grandson, Matthew Tod Monroe Jr.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Lightner Cemetery.
