DONGOLA, Ill. -- Carole Brown, 65, of Dongola died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009. as a result of an accident.

She was born Dec. 16, 1943, at Cairo, Ill., to Gilbert and Joyce Brown Eddleman. She married Sam Brown on Aug. 18, 1973.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dongola. She was a graduate of Ullin High School and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelors and a masters degree. Brown taught elementary school at Egyptian School for 17 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

She is survived by her husband, of Dongola; two sisters, Cheryl (Jack) Honey of Metropolis, Ill., and Donna (Gene) Loughridge of Peyton, Colo.; three nieces, Lora (Jay) Byassee of Paducah, Ky., Paula (Brad) Beal of Jackson and Marcia (Brian) Breerwood of Thibodaux, La.; three nephews, Brad Honey of Metropolis, Steve (Renee) Brown of McClure, Ill., and Dennis (Julia) Brown of Alexandria, Va.; an uncle, Bill (Betty) Brown of Effingham, Ill.; two brothers-in-law, Dale (Betty) Brown of McClure and Jim (Dianne) Brown of Belle Chasse, La.; a half sister, Judy Ritchey of Dongola; great nieces and great nephews and other relatives; cousins, Brian Brown of Perryville, Mo., and Billy Brown of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Keith Churchill; and a niece, Kristen Teran.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Dongola.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Timothy Heinecke officiating.

Interment will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.

Memorials may be made to the cemetery or the church and will be accepted at the funeral home and the church.
