Carol Trost

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Carol Ann Trost, 61, of Chaffee passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Aug. 14, 1951, in Sikeston, Mo., to Gordon "Doc" and Mabel Louise Graser Shy Jr. Carol and Art Trost were married Nov. 17, 1974. He preceded her in death March 24, 1994.

Carol was a sewing machine operator at Thorngate Ltd. in Chaffee and Cape Girardeau. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and Daughters of St. Ambrose.

Survivors include her mother, Mabel L. Shy of Chaffee; a son, Joe Trost of Arlington, Va.; three daughters, Olivia (Kevin) Ferrell of Overland Park, Kan., Jenny (A.J.) Hawkins of Arnold, Mo., Tricia Watson of Hazelwood, Mo.; a brother, John (Sally) Shy of California; three sisters, Cheryl Young of Olathe, Kan., Mary Shy of New Madrid, Mo., Gail Shy of Chaffee; and a grandchild, Zachary Hawkins of Arnold.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, David.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Church, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop and the Rev. Ralph Duffner as concelebrants. Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery.

Donations may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic School in Chaffee or Immaculate Conception School in New Madrid.
