CAROL GAINES

SIKESTON -- Carol Dean "Goob" Gaines, 66, of Sikeston died Monday, March 9, 1998, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born July 18, 1931, at Bernie, son of Joseph and Dora McDaniel Gaines. He and Monnie Marlin were married Oct. 30, 1951, in Piggott, Ark.

Gaines was a supervisor at Malone and Hyde 18 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Diane Michael of Ripley, Tenn., Lynn Vines of Oran; a brother, Joseph "Gene" Gaines of Sikeston; three sisters, Maxine Dalton, Ruth Johnson and Virginia Ogden, all of Sikeston; four half sisters, Juanita Payne and Margaret Hewitt of Morehouse, Louise Fortnier of Reno, Nev., Mable Rush of Springerton, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Billie Butler officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
