CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Funeral service for Carol Elliot Byrd of the Lutheran Home will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Revs. Neil Stein and James Sanderson will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. today.
Byrd, 87 years old, died Tuesday, March 5, 1991, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born March 19, 1903, at Oak Ridge, son of William and Hilah Wampler Byrd. He and the former Mary Hunter Clodfelter were married Dec. 24, 1924, at Fredericktown.
Byrd taugh school a year at Oak Ridge, worked at Southeast Lumber Co., was a bookkeeper at Batten Furniture Co., and then was a self-employed cabinet builder for a local contractor, retiring in 1966. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, and former member of the Optimist Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Carol Byrd of Waynesboro, Va., the Rev. Clyde Byrd of San Antonio, Tex.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
