Carmen R. Brazel, 93, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of McClure, Illinois, and Charleston, Missouri, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
Born Oct. 8, 1920, at McCroy, Arkansas, to the late Norman B. and Anna Adkisson French, she had lived in rural Scott County most of her life and was a member of the Karnak Baptist Church in Karnak, Illinois.
On Jan. 27, 1937, she married James Robert Brazel, who preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Jimmy Brazel of Charleston and Larry Brazel of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Pam Ulen of Ullin, Illinois, and Patsy Holland of Benton, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilbur "Bo" French Sr., Barrett French, Norman "Sonny" French and Jack French; and three sisters, Marjorie Harrison, Ruth Lovett and Frances King.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Collier of Jackson officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
