Carlene Gilliland

CHAFFEE, Mo. — Lettie Carlene Gilliland, 84, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at Chaffee Nursing Home in Chaffee.

She was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Canalou, Missouri, daughter of the late Carl and Willie Mae Hilton-Greenlee.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Scott City and had been an ombudsman for home health care and a nurse's aide in different nursing homes before retiring. She loved crafting and sewing and frogs.

She was married to Jerry Gilliland in 1955. He preceded her in death April 15, 2003.

Survivors include one daughter, Tammi McCraw of Jackson; brother, Sherman Greenlee of New York; sister, Linda Russell of Georgia; and grandchild, Sydney McCraw of Jackson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Cletus, Curtis, Bill and Doyle Greenlee; and two sisters, Bessie Morrow and Cleona Kunkel.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral Friday, Oct. 28, at Ponder Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home, with Jeremy Sells officiating. Burial will follow in Blodgett Cemetery at Blodgett, Missouri.
