VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Carl Eugene "Pete" Windings, 72, of Villa Ridge passed away at 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

He was born Dec. 1, 1941, in America, Illinois, to Lorraine and James Windings Sr. He married Mary Ellen Allen Windings on April 15, 1960.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He was always quick-witted and ornery in a fun-loving way.

Throughout his life he had several occupations. He worked for the gas company and then opened his own heating and air-conditioning business. He also served two terms as Pulaski County, Illinois, clerk and then two terms as Pulaski County commissioner.

He is survived by two brothers, Robert (Nancy) Windings of Mounds, Illinois, and James (Pansy) Windings of Olmsted, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Sherrie Windings of Villa Ridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gordon Windings.

He has three sons, John (Jenny) Windings of Olmsted, James Windings of Villa Ridge and Jerald (Beth) Windings of Villa Ridge.

His grandchildren are Christopher, Caleb and Conner Windings, Lauren (Dan) Hansen, Adam Windings, Jacob Windings, Heather Crecelius and Tiffany Hunt. He has two great-grandchildren, Elaina Hansen and Bryce Windings; and many nieces and nephews.

Pete was a member of Caledonia Community Church in Olmsted.

Visitation for "Pete" Windings will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dean Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery east of Pulaski, Illinois.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the Caledonia Community Church in memory of Pete Windings.
