SCOTT CITY -- Carl O. Throop, 82, Scott City Route 1, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at his home. He was born June 27, 1914, in Hagerville, Ark., son of Mark and Alma Partin Throop. He and Virgie J. Jones were married Jan. 18, 1941, at Bloomfield. Throop was a repairman at the former Superior Electric Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a former member of the American Legion in Sikeston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II...

SCOTT CITY -- Carl O. Throop, 82, Scott City Route 1, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at his home.

He was born June 27, 1914, in Hagerville, Ark., son of Mark and Alma Partin Throop. He and Virgie J. Jones were married Jan. 18, 1941, at Bloomfield.

Throop was a repairman at the former Superior Electric Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a former member of the American Legion in Sikeston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Burger of Scott City; a brother, J.C. Throop of Madison, Ala.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. William Dickey officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
