PULASKI, Ill. -- Funeral for Carl Edward Thompson of East St. Louis will be held at 2 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. Wiley D. Godfrey will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, with military honors by VFW Post 8891 of Mounds.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.
Thompson, 77, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.
He was born May 5, 1922, in Pulaski County, son of Amos Leroy and Lula Marie Lackey Thompson. He married Jo Ann Taft.
Thompson was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 513 in St. Louis. He was a former member of Pulaski Christian Church, and VFW Post 8891.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Edward Thompson of East St. Louis, Anthony Thompson of DePauville, N.Y.; two daughters, Teresa Thompson of Centralia, Mary Stiff of Mascoutah; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
