JACKSON -- Carl Summers, 89, of Affton, died Sunday, April 26, 1992, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood.
He was born Nov. 20, 1902, in Cape Girardeau County, son of John and Bertie Scivally Summers. He and Elsie L. Caldwell were married May 11, 1929.
Summers taught school 43 years, including schools in Cape County, Southeast Missouri, and retired from Lindbergh School District in St. Louis. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Affton, and local, state and national teachers associations.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Carlton Summers of Hendersonville, Tenn.; two brothers, Clint Summers of Poplar Bluff, Wood Summers of St. Louis; three sisters, Ruth Walsh of Kennett, Cuba Worthley of Gideon, Nell Branum of Bernie, and two granddaughters.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Doug Mankell will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from noon until service time.
