PATTON, Mo. -- Carl J. "Sonny" Smith, age 81, of Patton passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at his home. He was born on Oct. 13, 1937, at Patton, son of Carl and Tera Lincoln Smith. He and Jeane Kirby were united in marriage on Feb. 25, 1956. Carl worked as a farmer and was owner of the Patton Junction Service Station for 25 years. PATTON, Mo. -- Carl J. "Sonny" Smith, age 81, of Patton passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 13, 1937, at Patton, son of Carl and Tera Lincoln Smith. He and Jeane Kirby were united in marriage on Feb. 25, 1956.

Carl worked as a farmer and was owner of the Patton Junction Service Station for 25 years. He graduated from Patton High School in 1955.

Survivors include his wife Jeane Smith of Patton; a son, Scott (Cheryl) Smith of Patton; a daughter, Michelle (Ed) Liscombe of Brewer, Missouri; three grandchildren, Cody (Denise) Smith of Patton, Carly (Edison) Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Natasha Liscombe of Perryville, Missouri; a great-grandson, Rhett Scott Smith of Patton; a brother, Robert Smith, and two sisters, Germaine Mungle and Geraldine Cook, all of Patton, and many nieces and nephews. He was a friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Joey (late Jim) McCutcheon and Tara Lou (Leroy) Mungle

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Cary and Pastor Elijah Allen officiating. Interment will take place in the Patton Cemetery in Patton.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are appreciated to the Methodist Church in Patton.
