PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Carl A. Schemel, 66, of Perryville passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born July 18, 1954, in Perryville to John Sylvester and Lutrudis Caroline Wibbenmeyer Schemel.
He and Janet Lint Schemel were married on Dec. 27, 1980. She survives in Perryville.
Carl worked in construction for many years. He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Amvets. He was also a member of the Sportsman Club and Whittenberg (Missouri) Boat Club. He was of the Catholic faith.
Carl loved fishing, hunting, the outdoors, playing cards with friends and spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include three sons, Nathan (Lindsay) Schemel, Jerremy (Cecile) Schemel and Christopher (Katie) Schemel, all of Perryville; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Carlie and Lexi Schemel, Riley and Makenna Schemel, Carter Schemel and Gabby (Zach) Rollet; two brothers, Michael (Cathy) Schemel of Jackson and Dale (Debbie) Schemel of Perryville; three sisters, Kathy Cowan of Biehle, Missouri; Gera (Donnie) LeGrand of Benton, Missouri; and Denise (Rich) Pudlo of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Kevin Cowan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rich Werhmeyer officiating.
