Carl Harris Rogers, 73, of Scott City died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 19, 1929, at Blodgett, Mo., son of Thomas Charles and Stella Mae Belt Rogers. He and Rutha Sue Carr were married June 18, 1950, at Illmo.

Mr. Rogers was an agent with Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a member of Illmo United Methodist Church in Scott City; H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 AF&AM, Cape Shrine Club, Wilson Chapter 75 Royal Arch Masons, Cape Girardeau Commandery 55 Knights Templar, all in Cape Girardeau; and Moolah Temple in St. Louis.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and was an instructor for railway movement in the transportation corps for the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Hendricks of Cape Girardeau; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Charles "Onie" and Sharon Rogers, and Ruby Rogers Reid, all of Scott City; a granddaughter, Emily Suzanne Hendricks; four nephews, Thomas Cochran of Phoenix, Ariz., John Rogers Jr., Charles K. Rogers and Dale Rogers, all of Scott City; two nieces, Carolyn Tinsley of Scott City, and Deborah Cochran of Piney Top, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and three sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Woeltje officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery, with full military rites by Missouri Honors Team.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Illmo United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
