DEXTER, Mo. -- Carl Francis Robbins, 101, of Dexter passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Crowley Ridge Care Center.
He was born Oct. 3, 1913, in Greenville, Missouri, son of Marion Francis and Emma Florence Myers Robbins.
Carl retired from the Chevrolet manufacturing plant in Flint, Michigan. He was a member of Sugar Tree General Baptist Church in Bernie, Missouri.
He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II, where he earned six Bronze Stars for Central Europe, Air Offensive Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and the Ardennes campaigns.
Survivors include two sons, David M. (Laura) Robbins of Flint, Joe Robbins of Dexter; two daughters, Teresa Chadwell of Vassar, Michigan, and Cathy Hill of Joplin, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Leo, Oscar, Clarence, Clacy, Cletus, Clemo, Claude and Cecil; and two sisters, Maulie and Adeline.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Missouri.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Ogelvie officiating. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri, with full military honors.
