CHARLESTON -- Carl Jackson of Wilson City died Thursday, April 30, 1992, at his home. He was 101.

He was born Oct. 31, 1890, in Camden, Tenn., and had lived in Mississippi County for more than 58 years.

He was a member of Sander Chapel AME Church in Wyatt, of Banner Lodge 14 and was an army veteran of World War I.

He married Cora Gant, who preceded him in death on March 26, 1926.

He is survived by three sons, Fred Jackson and Edward Jackson of East St. Louis, and Charles Jackson of Wilson City; one daughter, Margaret Jackson of East St. Louis; 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the Sparks Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. Brother Leroy Shad will officiate. Internment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
