BERNIE, Mo. -- Carl Edward Haas, 63, of Bernie died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at the St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born May 29, 1937, at Ironton, Ohio, son of Carl Henry and Ruth Lively Bailey Haas. He and Donna M. Kennedy were married Aug. 28, 1970, at Mifflin, Ohio.

Haas was a correctional officer with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department in Phoenix, Ariz., until 2000, when he retired and moved to Bernie. He was a Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Mansfield, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Carl Edward Haas Jr. of Phoenix, and Robert Michael Haas of Bernie; two daughters, Sheri Lee Palmer of Bernie and Vicki Lynn Webb of Guin, Ala.; his mother of Phoenix; two brothers, Robert L. Haas of Reseda, Calif., and Michael F. Haas of Las Vegas, Nev.; four granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. John Sheley will officiate, with burial in the Bernie Cemetery with full military honors.
