SCOTT CITY -- Funeral for Carl E. Gladney of Troy was held Thursday at Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy. The Rev. Ed Pawlisbta officiated. Private burial was Friday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Troy.

Gladney, 47, died Monday, March 29, 1999, at Doctors Hospital in Wentzville.

He was born July 1, 1951, at St. Charles, son of Forrest and Susie G. Wells Gladney. He and Janet Stoeckel were married July 5, 1969, at Troy. He was a 1969 graduate of Elsberry High School.

Gladney was parts manager at Russ-Nixon Auto Parts in Troy several years. In 1990 he became owner/operator of Gladney Auto Parts in Troy. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chip and Chad Gladney of Troy; his father and stepmother, Forrest and Hazel Gladney of Troy; his mother and stepfather, Susie and Lester Chapman of Scott City; a brother, Leroy Gladney of Troy; a half sister, Judy Wilcox of St. Louis; and two grandchildren.
