PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Capt. Clements S. Gibbar, 77, of New Orleans, La., died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at East Jefferson General Hospital in New Orleans.

He was born March 23, 1927, in Claryville, Mo., son of Clements S. and Mary Pauline Schroeder Gibbar Sr.

Gibbar was a retired NOBRA steamship pilot. He was a member of New Orleans-Baton Rouge Pilots Association, and played the fiddle with local bands at Michaul's Restaurant. He was formerly of Perryville.

He served with the U.S Army in Germany during World War II.

Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Moore of Perryville and Vivian Beck of Fairmont City, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and four brothers.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. A wake will be held Friday at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Kevin Fausz will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
