Calvin John Eifert, 91, of Scott City died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 30, 1923, to John and Sophie Ketler Eifert. He married Dorothy Gene Gerrard on June 4, 1949. She preceded him in death May 2, 1976.
Calvin was a Morse code telegrapher for Frisco Railroad. He was a member of VFW in Cape Girardeau, Eagles Aerie in Cape Girardeau, American Legion in Jackson and Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He is survived by a son, Calvin (Barbara) Eifert Jr. of Bonne Terre, Missouri; a daughter, Pamela Swafford of Scott City; three grandchildren, Chase Anthony Swafford, Erin Elizabeth Eifert and Eric Jonathan Eifert; and a stepgranddaughter, Julia Yancheck.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Eisleben Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Marty Hasz officiating. Burial will be in Eisleben Lutheran Cemetery in Scott City.
