Sister Callista Thompson, 91, former associate administrator at Notre Dame High School six years, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Mo.
She was born in Fort Madison, Iowa. She entered the congregation of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1927, and professed her final vows in 1937.
Thompson received a bachelor of arts degree in physics in 1936 and a master of arts in administration/secondary education in 1959, both from St. Louis University.
She taught primary and secondary education 40 years in schools in New Orleans, La.; St. Louis, St. Charles and Cape Girardeau in Missouri; Fort Madison and Burlington in Iowa; Cairo, Breese and Quincy in Illinois; and Downey, Calif. She taught at St. Joseph School in Cairo from 1945-46. She was at Notre Dame High School from 1964-70.
Thompson did parish ministry from 1975-81 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Keokuk, Iowa. In 1981 she joined the staff as clerical support for Notre Dame Mission Crusade Office, which in 1991 became the Resource Development Office for SSND St. Louis Province. She continued part time until retiring in 1999.
There are no immediate survivors.
Friends may call at the SSND Motherhouse Chapel in Lemay, Mo., from 4-8 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel. Burial will be in Notre Dame Motherhouse Cemetery.
