JACKSON -- Funeral for Lester W. "Bus" Jacobs of Jackson will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. Ed Dobson will officiate. Burial will be in McLain Chapel Cemetery at Indian Creek.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Jacobs, 87, died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 9, 1911, at Gravel Hill, son of L.A. and Rhoda Hartle Jacobs. He and Beatrice "Bea" Tripp were married in May 1930.
Jacobs had worked at a rock quarry at Neelys Landing, on the railroad and with a barge line. He had owned a sawmill, retiring from the timber business in 1965.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Corletta Winder and Gladys Howard of Jackson; a sister, Clara Crump of Waukegan, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, five brothers and three sisters.
