JACKSON -- Burvie H. Murrell, 91, of Jackson died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1996, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 4, 1905, in Poynor, son of Thomas J. and Dovie C. Franklin Murrell. He and Thelma Schaaf were married June 23, 1943, in St. Charles. She died April 8, 1995.
Murrell retired in 1970 as an ammunition tester at Olin Corp. in East Alton, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Looney of Papillion, Neb., Janet Hitt of Jackson; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, three sisters and a brother.
Friends may call at Crawford-Holden Funeral Home in Jerseyville, Ill., from 4-8 p.m. today, and after 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Grafton, Ill.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. William Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in Fieldon Cemetery at Fieldon, Ill., with graveside rites by Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 and VFW Post 4528.
