Funeral for Elmo H. "Bud" Maevers of Cape Girardeau will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Paul Short will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery at Egypt Mills.
Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Maevers, 84, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born April 8, 1915, at Egypt Mills, son of Sherman A. and Leona Foeste Maevers. He and Cordelia B. Ervin were married April 19, 1941, at Egypt Mills. She died June 1, 1992.
Maevers was a carpenter with Fred Kurre Construction, retiring in 1965, and also farmed in the Egypt Mills area. He was a charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, Larry Maevers of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Carolyn Fisher-Hughes of The Woodlands, Texas, Christy Benton of Egypt Mills; two brothers, Gene and Earl Maevers of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Birdie Fortenberry, Mabel Green and Esther Maevers of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
