GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Bruce Irvin Sanders, 81, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, at his home in Grand Rapids.
He was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Illmo, son of Fern "I.F." and Nola Cheatham Sanders. He and Nancy Thompson were married Aug. 17, 1968, in Wilmington, Delaware.
Bruce graduated in 1969 from Catonsville Community College with an associate degree in nursing. He retired from Beverly Enterprises, where he worked as a quality assurance inspector for many years.
Loving survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nancy T. Sanders; son, Christopher L. (Samantha) Sanders; daughter, Elizabeth C. (Micheal) Wenderski; grandchildren, Christopher A. (Venus) Sanders, Shelby Ayers, Christian Ayers, Zeke Wenderski and Zoey Wenderski; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Billie (Rodney) Waddle.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest sister.
There will be a remembrance service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Covenant Life Church in Fruitland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bruce’s honor to Covenant Life Church or American Heart Association.
