COBDEN, Ill. -- Brian Goins, 54, of Cobden died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, in Bucaramanga, Columbia.
He was born Aug. 23, 1964, in Anna, Illinois, the son of William Glen and Barbara Johnson Goins. He and Karol Osorio Barbosa were married Oct. 31, 2016, in Cobden.
He attended the Connect Point Church in Anna.
Brian enjoyed a career in aviation of more than 30 years, where he was able to see parts of the world many only dream of. Brian never shirked from an opportunity to provide for his children, spending the latter years of his career flying contract in Afghanistan and then in Nigeria. Brian always made the best of every situation and frequently went out of his way to help others. He made friends wherever he went and touched the hearts of many people across the globe. He will be dearly missed.
Brian is survived by his wife, Karol Osorio Goins of Bucaramanga; children, Ben (Erica) Goins of Cape Girardeau and Christian and Leah Goins, both of Cobden; stepsons, Juan Osorio Barbosa and Jose Osorio Barbosa, both of Bucaramanga; father, Glen (Jane) Goins of Jonesboro, Illinois; brother, Mike (Patricia) Goins of Cobden; sister, Glenda (Randy) Little of Cobden; stepsisters, Tracy (Tom) Smith of Anna, Kim (David) Prater of Anna and Leigh Burns of Jonesboro; stepbrother, Daniel (Mandy) Page of Anna; and other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dongola Pentecostal Church in Dongola, Illinois.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Tom Wall officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home. Envelopes will be available at the church and the funeral home.
