Brenda Palmer

THEBES, Ill. -- Brenda Palmer, 71, of Thebes died Monday, May 16, 2016, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 4, 1944, in Thebes to Claude and Blanche (Tackett) Prater. She married Henry Everett Palmer on Oct. 12, 1962. He preceded her in death June 21, 1997.

Brenda worked as a housekeeper at Quality Packaging, Fountainbleau Lodge and Holiday Inn. She was a member of Thebes Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sherry (Cerilo) Garcia of Belle Glade, Florida; one son, James (Angela) Palmer of Old Appleton; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Prater and Carolyn Stevenson, both of Thebes; two brothers, Larry Prater of Edgerton, Kansas and Claude Prater of Edwards, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Thebes.

Funeral services for Brenda Palmer will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Ray McAfee officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family to help offset final expenses.
