SIKESTON, Mo. -- Boyd Jefferson Patterson, 75, of Sikeston died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. SIKESTON, Mo. -- Boyd Jefferson Patterson, 75, of Sikeston died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Clarksville, Ark., son of Gilbert and Lue Rainey Clark Patterson. He and Bernice Reeder Alsup were married March 17, 2000, at Benton, Mo.

Patterson was a machinist 30 years with John Deere in DesMoines, Iowa, retiring in 1978.

He moved to Sikeston two years ago from DesMoines. He attended Calvary Temple and was a member of American Legion Post and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Sikeston.

Patterson served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Boyd Patterson Jr.; two stepdaughters, Geneva Albright of Austin, Texas, Janice Story of Sikeston; three sisters, Bessie Kraus of Oran, Mo., Daisy Brown and Orena Halford of Sikeston; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel after 4:30 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. The Rev. Lee Brown, a nephew, will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by Missouri Military Honors Program.
