NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Bonnie Smith, 67, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 5, 1943, in Sikeston, Mo., to the late Edward Poynor and Katherine Louise Rhodes Poynor, who survives of New Madrid. She and Thomas Smith were married May 21, 1964, in New Madrid.
Smith graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She had worked in Alaska, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in New Madrid.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; two sons, Craig (Renee) Smith of New Madrid, Tom (Sandy) Smith of Millersville; a daughter, Christina (Cris) Schofner of Mount Sterling, Mo.; three sisters, Sally Palmer of Kewanee, Mo., Barbara Payne of Columbia, Mo., Janet Clark of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; three brothers, Eddie and Teddy Poynor of New Madrid, Freddie Poynor of Panama City Beach, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. J. Skrzypek officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid.
