Bonnie B. Fish, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, March 4, 2019, at Life Care Center.
She was born Sept. 25, 1931, in McClure, Illinois, to Walter H. and Gladys Marie Burchyett Schlichting. She first married James Russell Foister. She then married W. Lloyd Fish on Feb. 10, 1978, at Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death March 13, 2005.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 3838 and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star and Amaranth in Cape Girardeau.
She worked at Davis Electric as an inspector for more than 20 years.
She was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church.
Among family, friends and church family, Bonnie Bea was known and loved for her kind heart, sweet nature, steadfast faith and love for Christ. She was a beloved wife, dedicated mother and cherished Nana to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy in life.
She loved unconditionally and forgave without judgment. Her voice will live on in her many "Nana letters" written over the years to dote on loved ones or share wisdom and advice. Her great love for cooking has been passed on in the recipe boxes of those who shared her table. And she left behind a legacy of warmth and comfort in the many hand-stitched quilts she made for family and friends.
She blessed the lives of those who knew her. The great sorrow of her passing is bittersweet. Her loss is tempered by the memory of her life well-lived, by the many years of love she gave her family, and by the joy of her reunion in Heaven.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Martin of Jackson; a son, James Richard "Rick" Foister of Jacksonville, Florida; two stepsons, the Rev. Wilbourn Ray (Linda) Fish of Texas and Wayne Fish of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Rick) Fehr, Rachel Martin, Andrew Martin, Scott Huffman and James C. (Michelle) Foister; 13 great-grandchildren, Zachary Fehr, Emily Fehr, Blake Fehr, Reagan Fehr, Jada Martin, Mae Harrell, Jude Harrell, Ty Martin, Tate Martin, Tuck Martin, Hunter Watkins, Isaiah Foister and Daniel Foister.
