Bonnie Sue Bowers, 75, of Cape Girardeau went peacefully to her heavenly home Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Southeast Hospital, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.
She was born May 19, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to George Washington and Victoria Eakins Bowers.
Bonnie graduated from Delta High School in 1966 and from cosmetology school in 1967. She worked as a beautician for several years. Bonnie then attended college at Southeast Missouri State University, majoring in child development. She worked at Montessori School in Springfield, Missouri, and then opened and operated Small World Preschool and Daycare in Willard, Missouri, for many years. When Bonnie moved back to Cape Girardeau, she worked as a certified nurse assistant and patient sitter at Southeast Hospital for more than 20 years. She was recently working at Kids Korner Daycare in Cape Girardeau, which brought her much joy.
Bonnie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Family meant the world to Bonnie. She was the baby of 10 and loved her huge family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life. The most important things in Bonnie's life were her great-grandchildren, Audri, Tate and Ryker. She loved them more than anything in the world and always had some sort of treat for them any time she saw them.
She loved to cook and would always have enough food to feed an army at any occasion. She made the best banana bread and strawberry pie around. Working in preschools and day cares brought a lot of joy to her life. She would always have a funny story to tell about what the kids had done that day. Bonnie was also a very talented artist. She loved to draw and paint, and enjoyed making any kind of crafts. Bonnie was a social butterfly and loved attending church and socializing with people anywhere she went.
