Bobby Dale Brison, 65, of Lee's Summit, Mo., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died peacefully on July 3, 2006, after a brief yet valiant battle against cancer at Kansas University Medical Center.
Bob was born on March 16, 1941, in Viola, Ark. He dedicated 30 years of service to the public education in the state of Missouri. During his lengthy career in education, he served as a teacher, building administrator, instructional supervisor, business manager and superintendent of schools. He was elected state president of the Missouri Elementary Principal's Association, president of the SEMO Superintendent's Association and several other positions.
Bob was also active in local community activities and was influential in establishing the Stoddard County Children's Home. He served on industrial development committees, was on the board of directors for the Dexter Memorial Hospital and was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Since retiring from Missouri Public Schools, he served as general manager of the Missouri Securities Investment Program where he assumed regional and national responsibilities for marketing financial services and investments to school and municipal entities in several states throughout the Midwest.
He earned an Ed.S. degree in Educational Administration from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, and a M.S.E. and a B.S.E. from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou; his sister, Barbara; his brother, Jerry; his son, Vance; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Presentation Parish in Lee's Summit at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 6. Family visitation will follow from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Ark. and a graveside ceremony will be held at Gum Springs Cemetery in Salem, Ark. on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Messages of condolences may be left at www.forevercemeteries.com.
