In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Pete Windings.

Bob -- dear husband, father, grandfather and friend -- deserves a beautiful tribute. However, due to health concerns related to COVID-19 and by the signing of the executive order by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the visitation and funeral service will be private at 10 a.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Illinois.

Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Bob's nephew, John Windings, officiating. Military honors will be given at noon by the Illinois National Guard Burial Team and area veterans. At 12:30 p.m., the funeral procession will leave the funeral home and will proceed to Mound City National Cemetery, where interment will take place. The family has requested friends and relatives park along the funeral procession route from the funeral home to the cemetery -- Shumaker Road to Valley Road to Mounds Road to Route 37 south to Mound City -- to pay tribute to Bob.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois and may be mailed to the funeral home at P.O. Box 147, Villa Ridge, IL 62996, in memory of Bob Winding.

Please be with the family in prayer or by signing the guest book at www.jones-funeral.com.
