CHAFFEE, Mo. — Bob R. Wachter, 78, of Chaffee died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in Scott City.
He was born Jan. 24, 1931, at Dutchtown, son of Hugo Augustus and Lydia Wessel Wachter. He and Sue Redfern were married Jan. 6, 1951. She died Feb. 6, 1993. He and Beulah "Bea" Eastwood Gnann were married Feb. 26, 2005.
Wachter retired as an agent with Life and Casualty Insurance Co., and had owned Wachter Accounting in Chaffee. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau, Chaffee Youth League many years and SEMO Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott Wach­ter of Chaffee; a daughter, Suzanne Hart of Sikeston, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Sandra Gnann of Fenton, Mo., Cynthia Kimsey of Boise, Idaho; a brother, H.A. Wachter of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ernest Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
