MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Robert E. "Bob" Hudson of Mound City passed away at 2:57 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born on New Year's Day, 1928, he was destined for success.
A man rich in history and faith, compassion, integrity and respect, Bob Hudson touched more lives than can be counted. He helped people work toward better lives and never complained. He taught his family to respect everyone and to follow the Golden Rule at all times. Bob was a great family patriarch, and his loss cannot be understated. The void will never be filled. He will be missed by his wife, Pat; children; grandchildren; and friends.
He was a member of Mighty Rivers Worship Center in Cairo, Illinois. He built two grain elevators and many warehouses. He was on the board of directors for the First State Bank of Mounds, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Christopher "Chris" Hudson, on April 21; and grandson, Charles Cory Hudson.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Pat" (Schlem) Hudson of Mound City; son, Todd (Rendi) Hudson of Naperville, Illinois; brother, Ira J. Hudson III of Mound City; grandchildren, Chris Michael Hudson, Rebecca Hudson, Jordan Hudson, Spencer (Katie) Hudson and Elliott Hudson; and other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Illinois.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Buddy Walls and Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to Mighty Rivers Worship Center, 1000 Poplar St., Cairo, IL 62914, in memory of Bob Hudson.
