Blandine Westrich

Blandine Clara Westrich, 96, of New Hamburg, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 20, 1909, in New Hamburg, daughter of Anton and Regina Diebold Blattel. She married William "Bill" Westrich April 24, 1928. He died Sept. 22, 1950.

Westrich was a retired sewing machine operator at Thorngate Ltd. in Chaffee, Mo. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, and a member of St. Ann Sodality, New Hamburg Senior Citizens and the Chaffee Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 3127.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Westrich of Chaffee, James Westrich of Kelso, Joe Westrich of New Hamburg and C.T. Westrich of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Viola Diebold of Cape Girardeau; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and a great grandson.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. and Knights of Columbus prayers at 6:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.
