Blanche M. Mason, age 86, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at the Monticello House in Jackson. She was born Jan. 31, 1924, at Jackson, daughter of Emil and Hettie Fulbright Burgfeld. She married Gerald P. "Jerry" Mason on Feb. 23, 1957. He preceded her in death June 4, 1995...

Blanche M. Mason, age 86, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Jan. 31, 1924, at Jackson, daughter of Emil and Hettie Fulbright Burgfeld. She married Gerald P. "Jerry" Mason on Feb. 23, 1957. He preceded her in death June 4, 1995.

Blanche attended school at Tilsit and was a longtime member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. She worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson for many years. She enjoyed her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews very much, always celebrating their birthdays, attending their school activities and going on trips with them.

Loving survivors include her stepson, Danny (Jackie) Mason of Cape Girardeau; one stepgrandson, Pierce Mason of Cape Girardeau; one stepgranddaughter, Angela Melton of Cape Girardeau; two great-stepgrandsons, Jacob Weston and Anthony Varro; one brother, L. R. Burgfeld of Cape Girardeau; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Masterson of Jackson.

Also surviving are two nephews, Scott (Pam) Masterson and Robin (Myra) Burgfeld; four nieces, Linda (Rick) Kremer, Teresa (Mike) Hornbeak, Karen (David) Yoder and Karla Rodriguez-Burgfeld and husband Marco Rodriguez; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews and four great-great-nieces and -nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Inez Masterson; and one sister-in-law, Georgia Burgfeld.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.
