Blanche Huff, 92, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Chateau Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 11, 1910, at Sarcoxie, Mo., daughter of Henry Albert and Kathryn Carver Colwell. She and Russell Huff were married Aug. 11, 1932, at Springfield, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1967.
Huff was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Missouri where she obtained a master's degree. She received a Specialist degree from Indiana University, as well. Huff taught at May Greene, Alma Schrader and the SEMO University Campus School. She retired from SEMO in 1976 as instructor emeritus. Huff was also a hospital volunteer and receptionist at Chateau Girardeau, where she became a resident in 1988.
She was a charter member in both the United Methodist Women and Chapter LY of the PEO Sisterhood. Huff was also a member of the Wednesday Club, the Missouri Federation of Women, Cape Girardeau County Area Retired Teachers, Cape Girardeau County Democratic Women and several bridge clubs.
Survivors include a son, James R. Huff of Cape Girardeau; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Donald Swanson of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Alta Fox of Springfield; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Graveside rites will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Cape County Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
