THEBES, Ill. -- Blanch Prater, 76, of Thebes died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, on arrival at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky., following an auto accident.
She was born April 26, 1924, in McDowell, Ky., daughter of Wilborn and Katie Moore Tackett.
She retired as a cook from Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thebes and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Prater of Olive Branch, Ill., and Claude Prater of Lathe, Kan.; three daughters, Brenda Palmer of McClure, Ill., Carolyn Stevenson and Faye Prater of Thebes; two sisters, Lesta Stout of Laporte, Ind., and Bessie Hamilton of Kopperstone, W.Va.; a brother, Carmel Tackett of Olive Branch; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., and from 8 to noon and after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church at Thebes, with the Rev. Carl D. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
