SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Birdie Smith of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles E. Buck will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Smith, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 1994, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

She was born Nov. 16, 1915, in Sikeston, daughter of William Thomas and Anna Alice Lennox Stubblefield. She and T. Link Smith were married Dec. 24, 1936, at Sikeston.

A 1933 graduate of Sikeston High School, she was a secretary at McKnight-Keaton Grocery Co. here from 1933-63.

She and her husband purchased the Shell Oil jobbership at Kennett in 1963, of which she was co-owner and office manager until retiring in 1973. The Smiths moved back to Sikeston in 1974. She was a member of First United Methodist Churches in Kennett and Sikeston.

Survivors include her husband, and a sister, Blanche Stubblefield of Sikeston.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
